A 24-year-old Kansas City man suffered a stab wound to his face and shoulder early today when his girlfriend allegedly tried to wake him from sleepwalking. Police reports gave this account:

The victim was intoxicated when he came home to his apartment in the 9800 block of Cherry Street about 10 p.m. Tuesday. He and his girlfriend talked for a few hours then went to sleep.

The girlfriend awoke about 1:30 a.m. and saw her boyfriend urinating in the closet. She believed he was sleepwalking, because he had done that in the past. She tried to wake him up, but he ignored her and walked toward the kitchen.

She said he pushed her out of his way. Scared he might hit her, she grabbed a knife and held it up as he approached. After he was cut, she drove him to a hospital. His injuries are believed to be non-life threatening.

Columbia police have captured an inmate who allegedly escaped from the Howard County jail using a cardboard toilet paper holder. Curtis Jones of New Franklin was captured Wednesday afternoon.

Columbia police officers, who were responding to a tip, went to where Jones was believed to be located, but he had fled on foot. Jones was spotted a short time later and taken into custody.

Jones had escaped early Monday. Authorities allege he used the folded cardboard to jam a door lock to his cell and fled when a jailer went to another area in the building.

Jones was detained on a theft charge on suspicion of stealing anhydrous ammonia, a chemical used to manufacture methamphetamine.

He previously escaped in 1996 from the county's old jail in Fayette by climbing through a hole in the ceiling.

Rose, who went 3-1 in his first European Ryder Cup appearance last year, was third in Cromwell in 2005 and tied for ninth in 2007.

Current WA Order of Merit leader Michael Long is a further shot back after an even par 72 along with South Australia’s Brendan Chant.

One of the pre tournament fancies, Jarrod Moseley signed for a four over 76 and will be looking for a better score tomorrow to continue his fine form during the May/June Pro-Am circuit. Moseley has collected two wins in recent weeks and will be one to watch.

On a perfect sunny day, the Bunbury Golf Course was presented in immaculate condition with greens at a standard and pace Augusta National would be proud to display. Conservative golf was the order of the day with players ensuring their shots into greens were kept below the hole.
